‘Don’t listen to Gary Neville’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter fuming with pundit’s comments

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have enough reasons to hate Gary Neville. The former England defender was a one-club man for Manchester United, playing in a number of successful United teams that overcame Liverpool in the Premier League time and time again and if that wasn’t enough, he’s now been criticising Liverpool target, Xherdan Shaqiri.

Whilst it’s fair to say Neville isn’t Liverpool’s biggest fan, its easy to see that his comments regarding Shaqiri’s work rate have little to do with his hate for the Anfield club. The Sky Sports and ITV pundit made the comments about Shaqiri in the build-up to the Brazil vs Switzerland World Cup group game yesterday, claiming that the Stoke winger is lazy and needs to improve his work rate, which isn’t false, whoever is in to sign him.

The Reds though will take any excuse they can find to have a pop at a United man, and this has come as a chance to do just that. Gary Neville was quick to criticise Scottish left-back, Andy Robertson last summer before being proven wrong by the ex-Hull man’s incredible performances in the second-half od the season and the fans will be hoping that Shaqiri can do similar and prove the United legend turned pundit wrong.

The Reds in the Tavern really aren’t a fan of Gary Neville, and his comments have only made them more determined to sign Shaqiri if anything.
