Don’t open contract talks: 60% of Man Utd fans don’t want midfielder at Old Trafford next season

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite sure how this summer is going to pan out. After a mixed season in the English top flight, the Red Devils are clearly in need of a few changes.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few incomings, whilst a few departures are also likely to be inevitable.

One player that is facing a very uncertain fate is Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian’s contract expires at the end of the season and the topic of where his future lies is a real item of debate.

Man Utd fans, it seems, are fairly divided on the matter, but they appear to be swinging one way more than the other.

We recently asked supporters whether the Belgian should get a new deal at Man Utd, and 60% of the Old Trafford faithful that replied voted against the prospect – whilst just 40% voted in favour of him agreeing fresh terms at the club.

Clearly, then, Fellaini is dividing fans, but there seems to be a bit of a larger fanbase that is against him being at the club next season.

Fellaini has always been a divisive figure, with his fairly average technical skill not impressing fans. Likewise, his focus on aerial dominance and physical power clearly isn’t popular among fans, and so it seems as though most wouldn’t be too upset to see him leave.

That said, Jose Mourinho clearly rates him, and that will likely stand for something when it comes to Man Utd potentially offering him fresh terms.

One thing seems certain: whichever way this goes, a section of the Man Utd fanbase will be left feeling disappointed.
