The Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting their second signing of the summer, after the Merseyside club announced the arrival of former Chelsea man Mohamed Salah last month.
They could be getting closer to another addition as well, if reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola are to be believed.
The paper claim that the Reds are considering a move for Benfica forward Raul Jimenez this summer after the Mexican put in some encouraging displays at the Confederations Cup in Russia.
Furthermore, the report states that the 26-year-old, who broke the record to become the most expensive Mexican player in history when he joined from Atletico Madrid two years ago, is up for sale with Benfica bracing for a ‘significant offer.’
Our landlord has noted that, with the future of Daniel Sturridge up in the air, the Reds are in need of a striker in a season which will see them return to the European stage and add a further burden to the squad.
Jimenez bagged 11 goals in all competitions last season, a number which would surely rise if surrounded by the likes of Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho.
