The Manchester City fans have been in fine spirits in the Transfer Tavern since their side lifted the Carabao Cup after a 3-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley last Sunday.
After crashing out of the FA Cup against Wigan Athletic earlier in the week, the pressure was firmly on the champions-elect to bounce back with a victory in the Carabao Cup final last weekend, and they made no mistake in seeing off the challenge of Arsenal. The victory ensured that Pep Guardiola lifted his first trophy at the club since he arrived in Manchester in the summer of 2016, and the resident Citizens propping up our bar are hoping it will be the first of three trophies this season.
City’s victory arrived on a near-perfect day for the club, as Gabriel Jesus made his long-awaited return from injury and Vincent Kompany proved he still has the ability to deliver on the big stage, but the injury collected by Fernandinho early in the second-half was a notable problem for the club.
Earlier this afternoon, the club officially confirmed that the Brazilian will miss City’s trip to face Arsenal at The Emirates this week, although no exact time frame has been detailed regarding his return.
In response to the news, the Manchester City fans expressed their delight that his injury does not appear to be too serious, as Manchester Evening News journalist Stuart Brennan even suggested that he could return against Chelsea next Sunday.
Sounds like Fernandinho injury is not too bad – could even be fit for Sunday – and with Sterling back in training, #MCFC news keeps getting more and more positive.
