‘Dreaming’, ‘Goosebumps’ – Tottenham fans react on Twitter to exciting potential transfer rumour

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story by El Confidencial that former Lilywhite, Gareth Bale, could be on his way back to N17 in the summer. Spurs have reportedly expressed their interest in bringing the Welshman back to the club after selling him to Real Madrid in 2013.

The Spurs fans propping our bar up have some fantastic memories of the Welsh winger flying down the touchline at White Hart Lane. The 28-year-old was at Tottenham for six years between 2007 and 2013 where he developed from a marauding left-back to one of the world’s most feared forwards. In his five years at Real Madrid, despite suffering a number of injuries, Wales’ record goal-scorer has played a part in winning three Champions League trophies with Los Blancos.

Bale has impressed massively on the international stage too, as he became Wales’ all-time top goal-scorer with a hat-trick yesterday in a friendly fixture against China. When fit, the winger can change a game all by himself and his left-foot is one of the most feared in the world by opposing defences and goalkeepers. If Bale was to rejoin Spurs, he’d be walking into one of the best Tottenham teams of recent years with players like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen helping to establish Tottenham as one of the best sides in Europe.
