The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino will finally end their trophy drought in the FA Cup this season. They’re set to take on Man Utd in the semi-finals this weekend, and the Lilywhites will have everything to play for.
Pochettino, then, will be under a lot of pressure to get his tactics and team selection spot on, and one player that fans clearly don’t want to see play is Moussa Sissoko, who is rated at £18m by Transfer Markt.
Our landlord recently ran a poll, which can be seen below, on the prospect of the Frenchman losing his place in the first team against Man Utd, and it’s fair to say that the results were nearly unanimous.
A whopping 94% of fans have called for him to be dropped for the game, whilst just 6% have voted in favour of the Frenchman.
It’s a startling response, but in truth, it’s not hard to see why.
Sissoko has always been a divisive player in North London, and rarely has he commanded a starting berth.
Unfortunately for him, he’s become more of a rotational option under Pochettino, and so anything but a role from the bench is unlikely in a game of this magnitude.
In central midfield, Tottenham have the likes of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele to choose from, whilst in the attack the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura will all likely preside over Sissoko.
The final decision will be with Pochettino, but clearly, Tottenham fans are on the same wavelength.
