The Sun this morning claimed that the Football Transfer Tavern’s favourite holding midfielder John Obi Mikel is the subject of interest from Trabzonspor and Galatasaray this summer.
The Turkish duo are set to battle it out for the Nigerian international who is still yet to return for pre-season training after playing in the Confederations Cup in Brazil last month.
Chelsea will demand at least £15 million for their man should a bid come in this summer but Jose Mourinho would be happy to let the 25-year-old leave Stamford Bridge if the player asks for a transfer.
Mourinho has already added Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel to his squad since his return to the club and wants one more in the shape of Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso, leaving Mikel down the pecking order.
Mikel has been in West London for seven years after turning down a move to Manchester United in order to join Chelsea.
Where will John Obi Mikel end up this summer? Should Chelsea retain his services? Let us know your thoughts below.
