It may have been Chelsea old boy John Terry that shone last night but today all the conversation is about their young academy lad James Ashton who talkSPORT claim is wanted by both Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion.
The player is only 20 years of age and despite being held as one of the best prospects to come out of the Blues academy in recent years has succumbed to the all too familiar story of failing to breakthrough to the first team because of a lack of chances and indeed bad injuries.
Now it seems a move away may be on the cards with both former assistant Chelsea manager Steve Clarke looking at the player who he obviously knows well from his time at the club and also Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio who is hoping to reshape the Sunderland squad in the summer and add some young talented players who have a drive to succeed.
Not only are the two Premier League boys in for Ashton but a host of Championship clubs are ready to enter the battle for his signature with Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and also somewhat oddly, MLS club Chicago Fire in with a shout of landing the 20-year-old.
Will Chelsea let the youngster depart Stamford Bridge this summer? Rate this rumour below.
