Duo’s future looks away from Southampton as they head to China without them

Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been pleased with how active the side has been in the past week and it appears that it could be far from over.

The Saints are desperate to add to their squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, following Mark Hughes’ efforts to keep them up in the top-flight.

Relegation looked almost a certainty for Soton, however, the former Stoke City boss managed to provide them with a miracle, as they retained their status with just one game to go.

Hughes has been busy signing a couple of players to join him and help strengthen the squad to ensure they are not in a similar position next May, however, according to a report, it looks as though two men could be about to leave St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Daily Mirror are writing that Sofiane Boufal and Guido Carrillo do not appear to have a future on the south coast as they were left out of the squad for their pre-season tour of China.

Boufal has struggled to hit the heights that brought him to Southampton two-years ago, whilst club-record signing Carrillo has failed to find the back of the net for the Saints in the ten games he has played in since his big-money move from AS Monaco in January.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Southampton fans in the Tavern will be disappointed that things have not worked out for the two players that have cost the side around £35million in transfers and will hope they can recoup some of that money back.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Boufal when the Morocco international had a bust-up with Hughes following their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea when he refused to warm up.

Carrillo looks to have failed to impress the Saints boss during his short-stay and it would now appear that he could be on the move once again.
