Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner has become a surprise transfer target of Dutch giants Ajax. The Amsterdam ArenA club are looking to use the big Danish forward as a replacement for the much sought after Luis Suarez who has attracted a massive European following after an impressive World Cup in South Africa.
Bendtner, 22, has become disillusioned with life at the Gunners and has started only 2 league games this season. He has been very vocal in his criticism of his lack of game time in the media and, it now appears if he were offered a route away from the Emirates with first team football he would jump at the opportunity.
His injury record unfortunately seems to have been his downfall at the Gunners and he has never really had an extended run in the side injury free. The arrival of Marouane Chamakh and his subsequent form have further hindered the big frontmans chances. Bendtners quality has never been in doubt but it has always been felt he hasn’t produced on a consistent enough basis for Arsene Wengers liking.
There has also been rumour of the two players swapping clubs, in which case Arsenal would be expected to pay an additional £20 million as well as losing Bendtner.
There has been no word on what would Arsenal would expect in terms of value for Bendtner but, what is clear is that if the offer of first team football arose the Dane would consider the move away from the Emirates.
