It has not even been a couple of days since the Manchester derby passed but it seems that Manchester’s elite sides are set to do battle again if the Daily Express is anything to go by.
According to the publication, both Manchester United and Manchester City are set to go head-to-head in order to land young Netherlands international defender Terence Kongolo who is highly-rated and someone our regulars think could be a star of the future.
Both sides have seen their defences come under increasing criticism this season and whilst we do not think that a 20-year-old could be the immediate answer, for £3 million, the versatile Dutchman would certainly be a bargain.
Currently playing his trade in Holland with Rotterdam giants Feyenoord, we think that Louis van Gaal could just oust City in the race and use his knowledge of the Eredivisie and Dutch connections to get the player in red and not sky blue.
One issue for the Red Devils could well be the fact that Terence’s 16-year-old younger brother Rodney Kongolo currently plays for the City academy however and could tap his family member up!
Manchester United fans. Can you beat City to the Dutch starlet or do you think he will opt for money over history? Let us know your thoughts below.
