Liverpool have joined Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the chase for River Plate’s £15m-rated teenage sensation, Lucas Ocampos. The 17 year-old has become one of the hottest young prospects in Argentina this season, with a number of glowing performances for his boyhood club River Plate.
Ocampos, who stands at 6ft 2in tall, has been dubbed the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ and River Plate have encouraged Premier League clubs to bid no less than £15 million if they want to sign the striker.
Since being relegated to Argentina’s Second Division for the first time in their history earlier this year, River Plate have been hit hard financially and they are prepared to offload Ocampos to raise some much needed funds to aid the club’s promotion bid.
Chelsea have been making enquiries for the youngster since October, but now Liverpool and Manchester United are also very keen. Lverpool have been scouting South America over the last few months in search of the next generation of talented youngsters in that part of the world, and they have apparently had their eye on Ocampos for several months now.
Ocampos’ agent Diego Cativa, confirmed the strong interest from the Premier League saying, ”We’re talking to clubs like AC Milan, Inter, Liverpool, Arsenal and others.”
