‘Eden’s replacement’ – Chelsea fans hail wonderkid after club’s Twitter post

The Chelsea fans have been feeling miserable in the Transfer Tavern of late after suffering back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat against Watford on Monday evening was one of their most alarming results of the season so far. With only 12 fixtures left to play, The Blues hopes of qualifying for the Champions League are hanging by a thread as they sit just 1 point clear of Tottenham Hotspur in 5th place.

However, the supporters were given the opportunity to put their first-team worries on hold and turn their attention to towards their U21 side last night, as they travelled to Sincil Bank to face Lincoln City in the semi-final of the Checkatrade trophy.

The involvement of Chelsea’s youth team in the competition has been heavily criticised by plenty of supporters of clubs in League one and Two who strongly believe the competition should refuse to allow Premier League clubs to enter their youth sides.

Not that Lincoln needed any extra motivation to reach Wembley for the first time in their 133 year history, but they certainly got it by facing a side who are so widely unwanted in the competition.

With the scores tied at 1-1 at full-time, the semi-final was decided by a penalty shootout in which Kylian Hazard – Eden’s younger brother – stepped up to coolly slot his penalty home with a swagger which Eden can regularly be seen flaunting at the highest reaches of the game.

Chelsea’s official Twitter page were posting regular updates from the semi-final, and their tweet to confirm Hazard’s strike generated plenty of interest from the supporters.

The post provoked a mixed reaction from supporters who are both eager to see the younger Hazard brother in first-team action in the near future, and also concerned that Eden’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is far from secure.

Here’s what the supporters had to say about Kylian Hazard following Chelsea’s Twitter post…
