Punters are looking up here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro claim that Manchester City will not be selling forward Edin Dzeko this winter.
The forward has often struggled to be the number one choice at the Etihad Stadium, and despite the fact that he always seems to score when he is given the chance, both Manuel Pellegrini and predecessor Roberto Mancini have preferred other forwards.
Dzeko has been linked with the exit door this winter, yet his manager has spoken out about the need to keep all his top players, and as one of our punters notes, the strength in depth of the squad could well see City lift the title come the end of May.
The manager noted: ‘There was never any chance of Dzeko going in January,
‘He is a very important player for the team.’
He also pointed to the fact that Dzeko is getting more and more time on the field, stating: ‘If you look at the last month I think Dzeko was one of the players that played the most minutes in December.
‘He has continued to a very important player for us.
‘Always a player wants to play every game but it is impossible with the amount of games that we have to play.
‘I think he is happy here. He is an important striker and could have a lot of offers from other clubs but there is never a chance of him leaving.’
