Everton should be in the market for a new forward when the January transfer window opens in less than three months.

After a dismal spell under Sam Allardyce, Everton have made a decent start to life under Marco Silva. The squad is slowly adapting the Portuguese’s methods and players such as Richarlison and Lucas Digne have made excellent starts to their Everton careers. Supporters will be buoyed that Silva still has Yerry Mina to welcome to the side.

One area that could concern the former Watford boss is in attack. Cenk Tosun has netted just one goal since March, and despite his decent performances, he is failing to score enough goals. If Everton added a top forward in January, someone who could replace Romelu Lukaku adequately, the Blues would definitely be challenging for a European berth.

One man they could attempt to lure to Merseyside is Roma striker – Edin Dzeko. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Bosnian forward is no stranger to life in the Premier League following a goal-laden spell with Manchester City between 2011 and 2015. The 32-year-old’s excellent form in front of goal has continued in Italy, and the forward has hinted he would love to return to the Premier League.

With 50 goals in 130 appearances for the Citizens, Dzeko proved that he has what it takes to be successful in the Premier League. He almost signed for Chelsea back in January, but Antonio Conte opted to sign Olivier Giroud after the deal collapsed. Now, Everton should look to bring him back to England.

Dzeko already has five goals to his name this season as well as two assists – Everton would propel into European contention by landing his signature.
