Emery must challenge for the title and landing £27m-rated man would help Arsenal do that

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for the best after Unai Emery was appointed as Arsene Wenger’s successor and our punters reckon the Spaniard will be a hit in North London.

The former PSG boss arrives at the Emirates with a fantastic record for winning trophies. He lifted four during his time in France and also guided Sevilla to three consecutive Europa League triumphs. Now, he has a huge summer ahead of him as he looks to revamp the Gunners squad and put them back into title contention.

A new winger to support Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would make the Arsenal attack a frightening prospect. Their number one priority should be Sporting Lisbon man – Gelson Martins. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a terrific season which has seen his market value increase to £27m according to Transfermarkt.

He scored 13 goals and registered 13 assists in 52 appearances during all competitions and was linked with a move to Liverpool before they signed Mohamed Salah last summer. Indeed, he is precisely the type of player that Arsenal needs.

Martins is lighting quick and has plenty of skills which make him a nightmare for defenders to handle. He uses his body well to keep possession, and a low centre of gravity enables him to escape tight situations. His link-up play with Bas Dost is exceptional, and Aubameyang would benefit greatly due to his crossing ability.

At just 23, his best years are still to come. Under the tutelage of Emery, he could develop into a world-class player.
