The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are giddy with the excitement surrounding the arrival of former PSG boss Unai Emery.
Arsenal recently confirmed his arrival following his departure from France. In all, he enjoyed a very solid time at the French club, and thought many have pointed towards the relatively one-sided nature of Ligue 1, Emery has certainly still done a good job.
Whether he will be able to take his fine form from France and move it to the Premier League remains to be seen, but one thing that he should try and bring from the French capital is a player or two – and midfielder Adrien Rabiot could be a decent fit.
The Frenchman is at a crucial point in his career, and it’s important that he takes the correct next step. His form hasn’t been great in recent months, and so a restart in England makes sense.
Arsenal, likewise, are in neede of a bit of change, and that’s particularly true of the midfield. Granit Xhaka has struggled this season, whilst Aaron Ramsey has yet to sign an extension to his contract that expires next summer. Jack Wilshere, too, is yet to sign a new contract and could leave on a free this summer. Clearly, then, there’s a need for further depth.
For his part, Rabiot enjoyed a very strong first half to the season, and that’s where Arsenal should focus their attention. The five assists that he bagged season tell you everything that you need to know, in that he’s a fantastic passer of the ball. He’s able to create magic out of nothing, and the Gunners have lacked a player like that as of late. In addition, he’s also generally a very solid player, having arguably emerged as a bit of a jack of all trades as of late.
He’s very solid both in defensive midfield and further up the field, making use of fantastic positioning, tackling and composure to brilliant effect.
