Arsenal brought in five new players over the summer as the club embarked on the post-Wenger era.
Former PSG boss Unai Emery is now at the helm of the club and is currently in the process of shaping a team capable of pushing back into the top four and also in the long-term, win the league.
This season, he crucially has to steady a club that was struggling under the backend of Wenger’s tenure. He may not be able to challenge much this year but he has the squad to have a solid season in the league and in Europe.
One player that could prove a vital role for Emery in the future is Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson although this season he will spend it at Hoffenheim. The youngster signed a new contract at the club before joining the Bundesliga side today.
The year away in the Bundesliga is going to be a crucial step in Nelson’s development. What is worrying for Arsenal fans is that, like so many young English players, Nelson has gone abroad to find more game time.
While he did sign a new deal with the club, with Arsenal not having signed a new winger over the summer, it’s slightly worrying that Emery isn’t able to offer the academy product any game time.
In the Europa League, League and FA Cups, and even the Premier League, Nelson could’ve surely got some minutes.
Although Nelson signed a new contract, he surely would’ve been an asset to Emery this season.
What do you think Arsenal fans?
