Last night saw Unai Emery going about his business again as he his side dispatched Brentford 3-1 at The Emirates in the Carabao Cup. The Spanish gaffer gave Emile Smith-Rowe a start and he managed 64 minutes before being subbed, however, the Arsenal fans liked what they saw and will be keen to get the youngster back out on the pitch for some more first-team action sooner or later.

At just 18-years-old it looks like Smith-Rowe is going to be one hell of a player one day. He may not have managed to get on the scoresheet or register an assist last night but that doesn’t mean he didn’t impress and when you’ve got fans comparing a young 18-year-old from the academy to Kevin De Bruyne you know he’s probably a class act. Big things are expected of the midfielder and it’s up to Emery to manage him correctly.
Arsenal won the game 3-1 with goals coming from Alexandre Lacazette and a Danny Welbeck double, although Alan Judge pulled one back for Brentford in the second half. The game always looked like one that Arsenal would win and it was a win-win for all involved as Emery got to rest some of his big guns, give minutes to the fringe players and youngsters and still secured the Gunners a place in Saturday’s round four draw.
