England fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether the right call has been made concerning a young player, having been taken aback by reports they’ve read this morning.
The Sun states Roy Hodgson will call Manchester United breakthrough hero Marcus Rashford a spot in England’s training camp before Euro 2016, although he will not go as far as handing the youngster a place in his tournament squad.
Hodgson is due to announce his 23-man squad for the European Championships this week but he has a number of problems to overcome, particularly with Danny Welbeck ruled out of action and Jordan Henderson struggling with his own problem.
Whilst many are expecting few surprises in the squad, Hodgson will reject calls to hand Rashford his full call-up but will open the door for the teenager’s passage into the England squad by including him amongst the training ranks.
Our landlord can see the benefit in this but he’s questioning why Rashford should go straight into the first-team, rather than gain experience with the U21’s.
