Manchester United fans witnessed the further rise of one of their brightest young talents last week and a team-mate has stated he simply has to be selected for England’s Euro 2016 squad.
England veteran Michael Carrick told BBC Radio 5 Live that 18-year-old Marcus Rashford has to go with the Three Lions to France this summer, after he marked his international debut with the opening goal against Australia.
It continued a sensational rise for the teenager, who also scored on his European and Premier League debut for the Red Devils, increasing belief that the forward is the next big thing within English football.
Ahead of Roy Hodgson’s decision this week on a final 23-man squad for the tournament, which ill see three players from the preliminary ranks miss out, Carrick has tipped Rashford to make the final cut.
“He’s done everything he could have possibly done to give himself a chance. I’d take him, he gives us something different.”
With Daniel Sturridge once again struggling for fitness, our landlord believes Rashford could indeed make the squad and provide a different option to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.
