Arsenal have recovered from their dreadful start to the Premier League season to climb the table into title contention.

Unai Emery oversaw Arsenal’s worst start to a season in 26 years after suffering back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea. Since then, the Gunners have been flying, winning nine games in a row in all competitions. A 5-1 drumming of Fulham at the weekend leaves Arsenal just two points behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City at the top of the table.

Emery seems to have recaptured the feel-good factor in North London and fans will be pleased to see a wonderful relationship forming between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. To continue their excellent form, the Spaniard should be on the lookout for potential January recruits to give his side a welcome boost in the New Year.

One man who should be on his shortlist is Manchester United defender – Eric Bailly. Valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, the Ivorian has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and has made just three starts in the Premier League this season. The Portuguese was desperate to sign a new centre-back in the summer and is likely to return to the transfer market in January for a new defender. According to reports, Bailly is far from happy and will look to leave the club if his situation doesn’t improve.

The 24-year-old remains one of the top defenders in the division, possessing excellent pace as well as physical strength. Bailly is a modern-day centre-back with fantastic vision and passing accuracy making him the ideal partner for Sokratis in the Arsenal back four. Still developing and improving, the best is yet to come from the ex-Villarreal defender.

If Bailly does become available, bringing him to the Emirates should be a no-brainer.
