Erik Lamela hands Tottenham timely boost

Tottenham Hotspur could be handed a timely boost ahead of their match with Liverpool when the Premier League returns back to action.

According to a report by football.london, Erik Lamela is thought to be closing in on full fitness and could be available for their match against the Anfield outfit.

The Argentina international, who has had plenty of injury trouble since being with the White Hart Lane club, had to miss the last two matches with a hamstring problem.

Mauricio Pochettino will look to use the international break to get the 26-year-old up and ready, as the majority of his stars are currently away with their respective countries.

Before his injury, Lamela had started to show glimpses towards the end of last season and at the beginning of this year’s campaign of why he was originally signed and Spurs will be hoping his latest setback does not undo all his hard work.

The Verdict:

Having Lamela back in full training ahead of the Liverpool game will be a huge boost to Pochettino and his side.

Spurs will be looking to get back on track after a disappointing defeat to Watford just before everyone left to join up with their national squads, however, a tough test against the Premier League leaders awaits them.

If Lamela is fit and available and can produce the form that he has shown in the past, then the £18million-rated winger, as per Transfermarkt, could become a key player on the day for Tottenham.
