According to The Daily Express (via Tribal Football), Mauricio Pochettino is ready to oversee a mini clearout this summer, with the likes of Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela all cited as players who could be sold.

With Tottenham supposedly looking to balance the books in order to finance the acquisition of new talent, Lamela could be forced to embark on a new challenge this summer. The Argentine has been with the club for 5 seasons now since signing from Roma in 2013 and he has divided the supporters throughout his career in North London.

The arrival of Lucas Moura in January has given him fresh competition for a starting berth on the right-wing, but thus far he has been able to maintain his place despite Moura's presence, however, that could be all set to change once the Brazilian has a full pre-season under his belt.

And with Tottenham reportedly interested in signing Malcom from Bordeaux this summer, it would be no surprise to see Lamela depart. Lamela is valued at £18 million by Transfermarkt, but Daniel Levy should be capable of selling him for a fee in excess of that particular valuation.

But regardless of how much Levy is able to accumulate from the sale of Lamela, Pochettino should recommend that the funds are put towards the signing of Tanguy N'dombele. The 21-year-old central midfield player has been linked with Tottenham in recent weeks despite the fact he only recently signed for Lyon on a permanent deal.

The circumstances suggest that Lyon will be looking to make a huge profit on N'dombele if an offer is indeed forthcoming, but that should not prevent Tottenham from making a bid for his services. On the evidence of the form he demonstrated in Ligue 1 last season, N'dombele could be a perfect long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele.

With technical quality in abundance, the engine to effectively perform a box-to-box role and plenty of potential to improve, Tottenham would be making a wise investment for the future by signing a player who could become one of the Premier League's most exciting midfield talents.

The Tottenham supporters will naturally be eager to see Lamela remain at the club this summer, but in the interests of progress they may be forced to wave goodbye to a player who has consistently been willing to put everything on the line for the club and, if that proves to be the case, Pochettino should reinvest his transfer fee in the signing of Lyon's rising talent.
