Manchester United are renowned for nurturing some of the world’s most talented youngsters and spectators here in the Transfer Tavern have recognised that across the years.
Most recently, the club’s most successful prospect to come out the youth ranks is striker Marcus Rashford, who has become a permanent figure of Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans since his arrival.
There’s also been opportunities for the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay but one name who the Red Devils acquired from Southampton, and hasn’t quite shone is injury prone Luke Shaw.
Fans by the bar have heavily suggested the 22-year-old is one player who desperately needs to leave Old Trafford this summer in order for his own benefit as the once very prosperous career has quickly diminished.
Mourinho has built a strong foundation in his back line which is formed without Shaw, primarily having steady defensive unit Daley Blind as a full-back option and plenty of pundits have tipped the youngster as a weakness in this Manchester United defence.
Our landlord was disgusted that the Red Devils forked out £31 million for the defender back in 2014 and has since played less than fifty appearances for the Red Devils.
Luke Shaw’s declining promise has also seen him accumulate just a measly seven caps for the England national team, and it’s a distant thought to predict he’ll add to that number any time soon.
Shaw would most certainly not be short of a number of options in the Premier League for potential suitors and it’s time he seriously considers his future at Old Trafford.
Man Utd fans, would you agree that Luke Shaw should exit the club this summer to re-capture the form that saw him earn a move to Old Trafford in the first place? Or could he stay as strength in depth for Jose Mourinho? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below!
