The Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that it could be the end of an era…
Pablo Zabaleta’s career has been on a downward trajectory for several years now, as the veteran Argentine’s career slowly begins to wind down.
He will turn 32 in the new year, and after a long, successful career in Manchester – the Man City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that Pep Guardiola should start looking elsewhere.
He has been out of form in recent weeks, and with Guardiola consistently keen to rebuild his squad – our landlord is touting Zabaleta to be replaced next.
What’s more, the Argentine’s contract at Man City expires at the end of the season – and at present, there is very little suggestion of an extension.
But it’s not all bad news for the Argentine – and if Guardiola does choose to not renew his deal; he could have interest in his services from abroad.
As per ESPN, Italian side Inter Milan are keen on the Argentine stalwart – ahead of a potential move upon the expiry of his deal.
They add that the Serie A giants sent a scout to watch the defender as City fell to a defeat against Barcelona in mid-week.
Our landlord thinks that whilst Zabaleta could still do a job, in parts, for City – his career at the highest level appears over. His rapid decline is disappointing to see, as he was dominant several years ago – but Guardiola will no doubt splash the cash and replace him in the new year.
With Guardiola reportedly keen on Hector Bellerin, could Guardiola see the young Spaniard as a replacement for Zabaleta?
