He has become quite a favourite amongst the Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Retrospectively, Nathaniel Clyne’s £12.5 million move to Liverpool in 2015 was undoubtedly one of the shrewdest acquisitions in recent memory.
In a market where players are often sold for inflated prices, Clyne represented excellent value for money – and the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern have been particularly impressed with just how consistent Clyne has been as of late.
However, his excellent form has seemingly attracted some suitors – and Jurgen Klopp could be at risk of losing his key man…
According to the Sun, Barcelona are eyeing a £20 million move for Clyne, as they seek a long-term replacement for Dani Alves. The English full-back has reportedly been made the Catalan giants top target.
Whilst the move would come as a shock, considering how rarely English players make it out of their home nation – our landlord thinks that the deal could prove to be a great one for the Spanish club.
Clyne has, undoubtedly, turned into one of Europe’s finest defenders – with his stylish defending and rampaging forward runs proving to be a vital component of Jurgen Klopp’s very impressive team.
Shockingly, a couple of the Liverpool fans in the Tavern have touted £50 million as the number that will convince them to let him leave the club – but our landlord thinks it will be very hard for the club to hold on to Clyne if Barca do come calling.
