Euro giants make move for Everton midfielder

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a fair of business over the coming weeks…

After an excellent start to the season, Ronald Koeman and Everton looked like a perfect match – but things have come off the rails somewhat in recent months.

A poor run of form towards the end of the calendar year saw the Toffees drop down the table slightly, and that run of form has left the fans in the Transfer Tavern fearing that European football is unlikely at the end of this season.

In truth, a few of Everton’s players have not been up to par this season – and that is certainly true for Spanish midfielder Gerard Deulofeu. After looking good for the first few months of his tenure in Merseyside, Deulofeu has dropped off this year, with Ronald Koeman even dropping him from the first team at points this season.

It would appear as though one side has noted his lack of activity for Everton as of late, too, and as a result he could even be set for a departure.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol on Twitter, Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly said that they have made a loan move for Deulofeu – with the Italian side seemingly keen to add a bit of youthful energy to their side. Solhekol notes that a loan fee of £430,000 is reportedly on the table, with an option to buy also available at the end of the season.

Whilst the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy to see Deulofeu go, they certainly aren’t happy about the fee involved with the deal. Despite his poor form, they feel that a year of his services is certainly worth more than £430,000 – with Everton likely keen to cash in on the talented young player.

It is a shame that it hasn’t worked out for Deulofeu as of yet, with the young Spaniard looking impressive during his early spell in England. Our landlord thinks that he is sure to reach his potential eventually, but it may take a move away from the Premier League to achieve that.
