European club refuse to rule out exit of Liverpool’s £37m target

gotzeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are a bit worse for wear today after celebrating Joe Allen’s late equaliser against Arsenal last night long into the evening- but they’ve assembled today to discuss the latest gossip in hushed tones.

The Express gives Liverpool a boost in their quest of £37m-rated Mario Gotze, as Bayern Munich have refused to rule out the possibility of an exit for the young midfielder.

Gotze sees his contract expire in 2017 and could be on the move before then, with the World Cup final-scoring star discussing his future with Carlo Ancelotti- who will succeed Pep Guardiola as Bayern boss at the end of the season.

Whether Liverpool can secure a mammoth deal for Gotze, and reunite him with his former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, remains to be seen- but Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer has admitted the player’s future is unclear.

“I said it was madness when there were rumours about a transfer in January, whereas Mario was talking about the end of the season. Mario’s comments were an indication that we will have to sit down at some point in the coming months and discuss his situation. That is only logical.”

“I cannot see anything negative about what Mario said. He has put a few things up for discussion and we will clarify everything in the second half of the season. A lot of things will have been resolved by then.”

Our landlord believes Liverpool have an excellent chance of landing Gotze but he’s warned fans that it could depend on whether they earn a Champions League spot.

Liverpool fans, will Gotze move to Merseyside? Let us know in the comments below!
