European clubs prepare to fight for Manchester United star

Juan MataAccording to the Daily Star, clubs are lining up across Europe with the interest of snapping up Manchester United’s Juan Mata but punters in the Football Transfer Tavern expect that the former Chelsea midfielder will return to Spain.

The 26-year-old still has a lot of football to play in his career and the opportunity of signing a player of his calibre in the January transfer window doesn’t come around often.

Most recent reports from Spain suggest that Diego Simeone’s side, Atletico Madrid, are preparing to bid £20m after only recently discovering his availability.

But as previously mentioned they will face stiff competition with Mata’s former club Valencia and Italian giants Juventus as they are also keen on signing him but even they’re trailing to Real Madrid in the race to land the Spaniard.

Although as January comes closer it may appear that some club’s interest may drop as it is expected that Juve will not be able to afford United’s asking price.

It has been a difficult period for Juan Mata under Louis van Gaal as he has struggled to get into their starting line up and he appears to be behind a host of attacking players.
