European giant eye Chelsea forward who’s keen on summer transfer

Costa 4Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern watching their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Everton on the big screens have expressed their concerns to our landlord, amid speculation a key player wants to leave.

Spanish outlet Marca state Atletico Madrid remain keen on bringing Diego Costa back to the Vicente Calderon and the Spanish international is also open to a return.

Costa excelled in his inaugural season in the Premier League, helping to fire Chelsea to the title, but his form has dipped this season. Although he’s improved his performances under Guus Hiddink, he still remains a controversial figure.

With Chelsea poised for a major managerial change this summer and subsequent squad overhaul, with a host of strikers being linked to Stamford Bridge, Costa may push for an exit- and the lack of Champions League football next term could be decisive.

Chelsea will be keen to keep as many of their key players as they possibly can, especially as their absence from Europe’s elite competition may lead them to have difficulty in finding suitable replacements.

Our landlord feels it’s a losing battle for the Blues though, as he’s adamant that Costa will return to Spain.

Chelsea fans, how big a blow will it be to lose Costa? Let us know in the comments below!
