Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have received a timely boost this morning, after they heard a fan favourite is unlikely to leave the club after all.
The Daily Express claims Real Madrid boss Florentino Perez has officially told Manchester United his side are no longer interested in David De Gea, as Zinedine Zidane is happy with his current goalkeeping options in the Spanish capital.
De Gea dramatically saw a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu collapse on the Spanish transfer Deadline Day last summer and many expected Los Blancos to renew their interest this term. However, Real Madrid let an accord with the Premier League giants expire.
That agreement would have allowed Real Madrid to sign De Gea for £35m plus bonuses but that deal expired on June 15th and the Champions League winners will not renew their interest in the Spanish international.
It presents great news for Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, who see De Gea as an integral part of their side, and our landlord believes this is the first stepping stone to a brilliant summer for the Red Devils.
Will any signing match the importance of De Gea staying? Let us know in the comments below!
