Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their hopes of landing a sensational signing shattered, with the player’s club insisting their star-man will not be on the move in the upcoming transfer market.
The Daily Express, reporting via Gazzetta Dello Sport, quote an Inter Milan official as ruling-out an exit for star striker Mauro Icardi this summer, despite the Argentine attracting a wealth of interest from across Europe.
Inter Milan have conceded there will be departures from the San Siro this summer in order to raise funds but, according to vice-president Javier Zanetti, there’s no chance Icardi will be one of those being shipped out.
“We’ll have to see [about who we might have to sell], but we’ve got to talk to Roberto Mancini about it first to make plans for next season. In any case, Icardi is certainly going to stay. He’s our captain and even he’s said that he’s staying.”
Icardi has notched 16 Serie A goals in 33 appearances for Roberto Mancini’s side and our landlord has picked him out as one of the best young strikers in European football.
