Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have overheard some disappointing news, which suggests an astonishing target of theirs will not be making the move to North London.
German media outlet Bild quotes Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke as stating reports that claim Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave the Bundesliga giants are ‘total nonsense’.
Speculation concerning the future of the 26-year-old Gabonese international increased last week after Aubameyang’s international coach, Jorge Costa, as stating the striker had been granted leave from international duty.
However, Watzke quickly moved to deny the belief that Aubameyang’s Gabon absence was related to a transfer, although many aren’t convinced and still feel the 39-goal striker could be on the move this summer.
Arsenal, who have already sealed the signing of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, are just one of many clubs believed to be keen on Aubameyang’s services, with Manchester United and Real Madrid also amongst those linked.
If Aubameyang was to seal a transfer this summer, it’s likely Arsenal would have to pay a club-record fee as the striker only signed a five-year contract extension at Dortmund last year.
Arsenal fans, is there really any chance of signing Aubameyang this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
