It’s been a difficult few months for Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, who saw their side crash out of all competitions with the Premier League title now realistically out of their reach, but the latest reports they’ve read are what’s really got them down.
Spanish outlet Don Balon state Atletico Madrid are keen to sign Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez this summer, with Diego Simeone desperate to bring the former Barcelona ace back to Spanish football.
The Chilean Copa America star was an instant success in north London, helping the Gunners retain the FA Cup last season, but injuries and a loss of form this season have led to speculation that he’s unhappy in the Premier League.
Costing Arsenal £35m, he’s the second-most expensive signing in club history and Arsenal will be desperate not to lose the talented 26-year-old, although they may find their hands tied if Alexis demands an exit.
Whilst there’s been no official word from Alexis to state he’s unhappy with life in London, he publicly questioned the desire of his team-mates in a recent interview.
If Arsenal were to lose Alexis, it would be a major step-back and the Gunners would find it increasingly difficult to compete next season.
Gooners, do you believe Alexis could genuinely leave this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
