Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are in a better mood today after their side’s 4-0 win away at Hull City last night, though the lads by the pool tables are under no illusions that a major summer is required.
TransferMarketWeb have stated that Borussia Dortmund have decided to put German international Ilkay Gundogan up for sale, paving the way for Arsenal to complete a deal for their long-term midfield target.
Ahead of a summer when the Gunners are expected to lose an experienced midfield trio of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla, Arsenal are looking to bolster their midfield ranks with some quality additions- and Gundogan has been mentioned as a target for the past few years.
A move could now materialise this summer, as it’s stated Dortmund will sell for £23m– although they could face immense competition, with Bayern Munich and Barcelona amongst the names also linked with the midfielder.
Our landlord feels Gundogan would be a quality midfield addition for Arsenal, although he’s unsure if he’s the sort of player to immediately improve the starting line-up.
Arsenal fans, would Gundogan come into your starting XI? Let us know in the comments below!
