Arsenal fans have endured a disastrous few months in the Transfer Tavern, with a run of just two wins in their last 11 matches in all competitions leading to a lot of angry punters and smashed pint glasses.
However, they’re spirits have been raised a bit this afternoon after reports from TalkSport revealed that Borussia Dortmund are ready to cash-in on midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, a player Arsenal have had their eyes on for some time.
Arsenal are in need of midfield additions this summer as they’re set to lose experienced trio Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky upon the expiration of their contracts- which would leave a gaping hole in the Gunners midfield ranks.
Therefore, a swoop for the £23m-rated German international makes sense but Arsenal will find things difficult, as they face rival interest from Barcelona and Juventus.
Having spent five years with Dortmund, Gundogan has plenty of experience and could thrive in either of the three leagues potentially on offer- but our landlord feels the lure of the Premier League could be decisive.
Arsenal fans, would Gundogan be a good addition to your midfield? Let us know in the comments below!
