West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows after last night’s FA Cup exit but things could be about to get a whole lot worse.
TalkSport reports that Dimitri Payet is to be on the end of an incredible £50million deal with Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Payet, who has registered 12 goals and eight assists for the Hammers, after arriving last year from Marseille in a deal believed to be around £10.7million. West Ham United are moving to the British Olympic Stadium this summer and may find a deal, five-fold of what they paid, impossible to resist.
The 29-year-old recently extended his contract with the London club, but his efforts have not gone unnoticed with Barcelona said to be one of many heavyweight club’s interested in the midfielder.
Payet has made 17 international appearances for home country France, most recently scoring a stunning free-kick against Russia in a friendly match, ahead of this summer’s European tournament.
The prospect of playing for one of the top clubs in the world is likely to give the Frenchman something to think about.
