Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are close to tears this afternoon and it’s not down to a brilliant remedy of a Celine Dion classic by one lass on the karaoke machine.
French outlet BuzzSport state Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has set his eyes on compatriot Hugo Lloris, with the Spanish giants looking to redeem themselves after failing to replace legendary stopper Iker Casillas last summer.
Los Blancos failed with a very public approach for Manchester United’s David De Gea, with a transfer deal falling apart right at the end of last summer’s window, but Lloris was regarded as an alternative option.
Now, the ten-time European champions will revive their interest in Tottenham’s star-player as Real Madrid target a bigger-name than current Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who has impressed during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Lloris has made it clear in the past that he would consider his options should Spurs fail to qualify for the Champions League but Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit second in the Premier League and are on-course for a passage to the group stages.
However, our landlord believes the interest of Real Madrid could still prove to be problematic for the North London giants- who have lost the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric to their Spanish counterparts in recent years.
Spurs fans, can you keep Lloris this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
