West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been united in their woes today after hearing they face immense competition in the hunt for one of Europe’s finest strikers.
TalkSport states the two Premier League sides have been joined in the market for Alexandre Lacazette by Spanish giants Barcelona, with the 24-year-old raising his profile significantly in recent seasons.
The French international has found the net 20 times this season for Lyon and set a Ligue 1 record with his 31-goal haul last season. Understandably, Lyon want to keep him but their likely lack of Champions League football could be decisive.
Nevertheless, an offer of around £24m would persuade the French side to cash-in but our landlord feels the talented striker would be wasted in Catalonia, as Barcelona already boast the impressive front trio of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Tottenham would be the more suitable suitors in the Premier League, given their involvement in Europe’s elite competition next season, and the possibility of Lacazette creating a strike-force capable of netting 50-goals a season alongside Harry Kane is certainly a frightening thought for defences throughout Europe.
Where will Lacazette be plying his trade next season? Let us know in the comments below!
