Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are wondering what course of action they should take next, after hearing a monumental price-tag has been placed over a prime defensive target.
Italian outlet Gazzetta World state Juventus have increased their valuation of defender Leonardo Bonucci to a whopping £50m, which means Chelsea will have to pay over the odds to land the Italian centre-back.
The Blues have been linked with the services of the 29-year-old ever since Antonio Conte was appointed the new manager at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian boss being fond of Bonucci having worked with him previously at Juventus and on the international stage.
However, Chelsea will find it difficult to snatch Bonucci from Conte’s former employers as there’s a suggestion that not even €60m will persuade the Turin giants to sell; meaning the Blues may have to eye alternative targets.
Things aren’t easy for Chelsea due to their lack of European competition next season and our landlord thinks it’s going to be a big test for Conte to build a side capable of challenging next season.
Should Chelsea continue to push for Bonucci despite his massive price-tag? Let us know in the comments below!
