There could be a major Premier League battle on the cards in the transfer market this summer, as a European giant has revealed they could part ways with their star-man.
Metro quote Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis as confirming no offers have been made for Gonzalo Higuain yet- but the club will listen to any approaches made for the Argentine striker this summer.
The former Real Madrid forward has been in electric form this season, firing thirty goals to put him top of the European golden shoe rankings alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and his form has attracted interest from Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United.
Both English clubs could make a move this summer, whilst Arsenal have held interest in the past, and De Laurentiis gave a boost to any interested party with his latest comments:
‘We haven’t received any offers for Higuain. In principle he will stay with us. In any case there is a buyout clause, thought to be around 94 million (euros). If any offers come we will listen to them.’
With the massive cash injection in the Premier League this summer from TV rights, the appeal of football in England could grow significantly. However, both Chelsea and United could find themselves without Champions League football.
