European giants confirm interest in rivalling Liverpool for World Cup hero

GotzeLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their hopes of securing a sensational signing this summer significantly dashed, after a European giant confirmed their own interest in the excellent midfielder.

Metro quote Borussia Dortmund’s Chief Executive as confirming the club’s intention to re-sign Mario Gotze from arch-rivals Bayern Munich this summer, if the World Cup winner leaves the Bavarian giants.

The German star controversially left Dortmund in 2013 in a £32.5m deal but he’s struggled to earn himself regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena ever since, which has ultimately led to speculation the player could leave in the summer.

Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old, who would reunite with former boss Jurgen Klopp if he made the move, but Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed his club will enter the market for the player’s services.

‘If he’s on the market, it’s clear if we discuss about him. The door is always open for every player who comes from Dortmund.’

‘[However] If he returns we have to talk with the fans and he has to explain how he left for Bayern. But I don’t think that they won’t give him a second chance.’

Our landlord feels that Gotze would snub Dortmund anyway for a new challenge, although the Reds lack of Champions League football could be decisive.

Liverpool fans, can you beat Dortmund to the signature of Gotze this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
