Several of Europe’s top clubs are believed to be monitoring Anderlecht’s 16-year-old sensation Romelo Lukaku according to the Daily Mail. Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Arsenal are all reportedly keeping tabs on the striker who is already developing a phenomenal goal scoring record, having bagged 9 in 15 appearances in the Belgium league this season, with most of these coming as a substitute.
Lukaku’s youth career shows just why there is so much hype and interest surrounding him. The youngster scored 121 goals in 88 matches for Anderlecht’s youth academy and when he was 15 years of age he managed to score 26 goals in 17 matches, despite playing against players 4 years older than himself.
He recently became the 3rd youngest goal scorer ever in a UEFA competition with his strike against Ajax in the group stages of the Europa league. The young forward, who stands at over 6ft 3inches tall, boasts both power and pace and has already proved too much of a handful for many experienced defenders in the Belgian League. He looks destined for great things yet is unlikely to remain in Belgium for much longer, however Lukaku has already shocked Chelsea once by turning down an offer so Anderlecht fans will be optimistic about the chances of Lukaku staying.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
