Blackburn Rovers are ready to make a sensational signing as they look set to offer Spanish veteran Raul, 34, a shot at the premiership before he bows out, and hangs up his golden boots for good.
The record breaking hit man departed his beloved Real Madrid 12 months ago after spending 18 years at the club, where he went on to make more appearances (741) than any player in the clubs history, plus tallying up 323 goals, more than any other player to ply his trade at the Bernabeu.
Raul signed a two year contract with German outfit Schalke last summer and displayed fantastic form that witnessed him make 51 appearances smashing the back of the net 19 times, spearheading his new side within touching distance of European glory, as Schalke progressed into the last four of the Champions league for the first time in their history.
Despite Blackburn’s owners crashing into financial crisis, Mirror football has indicated they are willing to pull out all the stops to bring Europe’s most prestige name to Lancashire, as they believe Raul is the man to rocket their publicity.
It would be great to see him in the Premiership but personally I just can’t see this one happening, and I believe this is a rumour that will disappear from the back pages in the blink of an eye… but you never know, stranger things have happened… haven’t they?
