Manchester City became the latest club to show interest in signing Sporting Gijón left back defender and Spanish youth international José Angel Valdés.
Following braking into Sporting’s first team last season Angel has attracted attention from a number of clubs, with Everton, Wigan and Barcelona making enquiries about his availability.
Transfer funds are understood to be being made available for the January transfer window so that Mancini can further bolster his squad as he attempts to fulfil the clubs ambition of securing Champions League football.
Angel made his La Liga debut in the first team last month against Barcelona, of which one of their scouts commented ‘he’s a sensational footballer, you won’t easily find a left-footed player with his qualities, so I’m not surprised he’s doing that well in the Liga’.
Angel signed his first professional contract for in Sporting Gijón last February which reportedly includes a buyout clause of £15 million, which is unlikely to deter City.
