Everton winger Bernard is putting in extra time on the training pitch with assistant manager Luis Boa Morte as he looks to improve his finishing.
The Brazilian has so far failed to set the Premier League alight in terms of goals but, according to the Liverpool Echo, he is now spending extra time as he looks to improve his record.
Boa Morte only joined the coaching team at Goodison Park in the summer and Bernard has admitted he is ‘enjoying’ his time with the former Arsenal winger as he looks to improve his goal record.
Indeed, Bernard has never been prolific in his career so it is easy to see why he is looking to work on his finishing. In his final season at Shakhtar Donetsk, he managed just six leagues goals and four the campaign before that (via Transfermarkt).
He has got off the mark this season but, having only managed to hit the net once last season for Everton, there is reason for concern.
Bernard has competition in attacking areas this season after the Toffees made big moves in the summer to sign the likes of Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean, so the above is one area of his game where he will surely have to improve if he wants to remain a regular.
Boa Morte has bags of experience at the top flight level and he can only help Bernard going forward.
The stats don’t lie for Bernard. He must do better in front of goal. Hopefully Everton will see some of the rewards of his extra time with the Everton assistant.
