Everton supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have become frustrated with the lack of transfer activity at Goodison Park this summer, however manager Roberto Martinez has looked to ease supporters worries by confirming he wants three new signings before the close of the transfer window.
Most attention surrounding the Toffees this summer has surrounded Chelsea’s reported interest in defender Jon Stones, yet BBC Sport report that Martinez is looking to add players to his squad rather than lose anyone.
Everton have signed Tom Cleverley, Gerard Deulofeu and forward David Henen so far this summer, and Martinez has confirmed he hopes to have an additional three new faces by the time the window slams shut on September 1.
“I feel we will be strong when the window closes. We will make sure we are ready for the big test,” he said.
“We are looking for the right characteristics and we will work extremely hard until the deadline.
“What is clear is we need to bring in three players to get the squad in the shape we want to face the competition.”
Everton kick off their Premier League campaign with a home game against Watford this weekend.
A large group of Toffees fans over by the dartboard here in the Transfer Tavern are discussing what Martinez has said, with all of them hoping he sticks to his promise, and adds new faces to Goodison Park for the new season!
