Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern feel reassured after talkSPORT revealed that Roberto Martinez is confident he will keep hold of Kevin Mirallas in the January transfer window.
The Belgian forward has settled into Premier League life well since joining from Olympiakos in 2012 but his long-term future is in doubt having not signed a new deal since his move to England.
His current deal is due to expire in 2016 so there is plenty of time but the rumour mill is in full swing and he has been linked with a move to Premier League big guns Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal.
However, Martinez was quick to quash any speculation linking his 27-year-old with a move away from Goodison Park.
Martinez said: “Kevin Mirallas is on a long-term contract with us. We’re delighted with his form and he’s delighted with enjoying his football for Everton.
“We always work behind the scenes to try to see if we can extend relationships and we’ve been talking with Kevin for a long time just because we want to see how he feels about his situation and making sure he feels rewarded and wanted.
“He’s quite happy where he is, he just wants to concentrate on his football. That’s fine for everyone.”
