The Everton fans are beginning to lose their patience with this young midfield star…
Ross Barkley has been touted as the next big thing in English football for years – but as of yet, he has failed to capitalise on his potential.
After making his debut in the 2011/12 season, Barkley has slowly progressed, and since 2014 the Englishman has been a pretty consistent part of Everton’s first team plans.
As with most impressive young English players, Barkley was hyped to the moon – and unsurprisingly, thus far, he has failed to live up to that.
This season, in particular, has been a tough one for the attacker – with a strong start being contrasted by a period of poor performances under boss Ronald Koeman.
Now, with Barkley now 23-years-old, it would appear as though Ronald Koeman has run out of patience with the youngster.
According to the Sun, Koeman is ready to do a deal for Barkley – after growing frustrated at his lack of progress and his poor recent performances.
The Sun add that the Dutch boss is ready to listen to offers for him, though at present, nobody has shown an interest.
It has been quite the fall from grace for Barkley. After all, it was only a few years ago that everyone in the Transfer Tavern was hoping that he would join their club – now Koeman can’t even find a buyer for a quick sale!
The Everton fans in the Tavern think that at 23-years-old, Barkley is quickly reaching his peak – and his performances have just not been good enough.
Our landlord thinks that whilst Barkley has the talent, he has seriously suffered from over-hyping, and he thinks that it was always going to be impossible for the Englishman to live up to the hype.
